The Myanmar Situation

If you guys follow the news closely, the tension has broken out in Myanmar and the military junta has retaliated on the Buddhist monks who are leading the protests. Even if the international community has urged the leaders of Myanmar to exercise restraint and caution, there has been reports from the opposition that five monks have been killed, however the Myanmar governmnet claims that there were only one civilian as killed and that there were three casualties.

Earlier in the week my dad said that this might be another successful people power, where there was no violence involved like what happended during EDSA I. But unlike the Philippine counterpart where protesters even gave food and flowers to the soldiers who had their army tanks pointed at the protesters, the Burmese soliers have allegedly beaten monks and civilians alike.

We really don’t know what can happen next, but everyone agrees, the violence against religious figures (who are hold a great deal of influence in the countre) will not be tolerated by the public. But the Burmese army is also one of the most brutal forces to reckon with, killing a thousand protesters during the 1988 pro democracy rally.  We really can’t dismiss these facts. The only question is who will prevail in the end. Shall democracy finally see the light of day?

We can only watch and pray for peace.

It’s Not That Easy!

You Passed 8th Grade Geography

Congratulations, you got 8/10 correct!

Could You Pass 8th Grade Geography?

I actually did this for fun, and the questions were quite difficult, like it was seven or six years ago that I last had this type of quiz.

Try it, it’s really not easy for me…but an 8/10 is a very nice result…haha…educated guessing.

What If…Then

I stumbled upon this Occupational Therapy video a while back, and well, I can say now that I’m ok with me not continuing this magnificent course which suits my personality (as my practicum scores will agree), but there’s this tinge of grief, what if?

So throw a kiss goodbye to all the pain you hide

Here’s my wishlist, you may or may not really go through with any of this:

1. A really cool journal or diary (cool meaning it has a nice cover, preferably unlined and acid-free), or an old-fashioned nib pen where I really need to dip it in ink!

2.  The $10 lamp from Ikea, actually it’s like an oil lit lantern and it’s super cute! It’s white and you can put a tea candle inside.

3. Anything from Anna Sui!

4. Embossing tools from Spotlight

5.  and the most ambitious thing on my list Apple iTouch with engraving…hehe

As for my mortal, I am so stumped on what card I will give. I’ve been looking at sites and books for inspiration. What colour does she like? And Potpot have you sent the pictures?

So far…

I went to my client’s office today, had a meeting. Thank God for my thumbdrive, it saved the day!

Learnt that I was doing almost all the talking, I will ask for an understudy just in case.

Work has been not so good, I mean the flow is great but my heart is no longer in it. I find myself wanting to be in a more creative, more nurturing environment. I feel abused and misused, I pray so hard for my heart to be pure and not be full of resentment but I feel so upset.

I have to rein my words and my thoughts just so I won’t go negative. <SIGH>

It was a good thing that today I went for retail therapy courtesy of my Mum! I got a top and a pair of shoes. It at least relieved my motion sickness and headache, and yes my upset-ness (it’s not really depression).

Tomorrow’s a new day and hopefully I’ll get my enthusiasm and joy back. I haven’t prayed for one hour for the last two weeks, today, I reached the 55 minute mark. I woke up at 5:30am, and at 7am I started praying. Praying so hard because I know I’d snap if I don’t. I must pray more, draw strength from God.

It’s funny how music affects your mood, and Death Cab for Cutie made me relax and smoothen the frown lines I’ve developed this week.

I’ve got the JOY, JOY, JOY, JOY

Down in my heart

Where?

Down in my heart

Where?

Down in my heart to stay!

Everything is Gonna Turn Out Fine

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Woke up with a bang
And a bug on your face
It crawled in your mouth
And gave you a taste of
The good life you left behind
But I think you’re gonna be fine

Somebody loves you
And you’re gonna make it through
Somebody loves you
And you’re gonna make it through…

This nagging malaise
Is more than a phase
It feels like a job
But no boss ever pays you to lay there
And think how you’ll die
While the tears start to well in your eyes

Somebody loves you
And you’re gonna make it through
Somebody loves you
And you’re gonna make it through…

One more Saturday
All alone through the night
You’ve got to be sure
When you turn out that light
That it’s going to turn on again
You’ve got to be your good friend

MIDWEEK SPECIAL: Go Ahead SHOCK Me

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I went to sleep last Sunday not knowing that when I woke up the next day almost everything in my life will change. It is still the middle of the week, but things have gotten way too exciting.

I think it all started when I made a silent prayer. I am in the habit of blog-stalking. There’s this one girl whose blog I really visit everyday, but she doesn’t know it, like I don’t comment or anything. I don’t even think she knows I exist. I am so fascinated by the way her life is so exciting and you can really see God moving in her life. And deep inside me, I’m like, “God, why is my life so boring?”. This is the type of prayer that you sometimes wish you could take back, because you know for sure, God’s swift to answer! And I never expected it to be so soon!

So far career-wise, I’m heading in to a whole new territory, albeit I’ve been trained and participated in these type of activities before (Pre-DISPLACEMENT* days), this one is like, so sudden all I could say was “Yes”. Please pray for me, I haven’t spoken to this large number of people in like 2 years. Basically I am given 2 projects, one which will commence on Saturday and would be a twice a month gig, and another one which will involve not only my speaking skills but my administrative skills as well.

Although at first I was like really pissed because I think that the Higher Ups just wanted to dump all the work to me and they’ll take all the credit, I always think that every opportunity/challenge no matter how unjust it is will make me a better person. Hopefully, I’ll be more confident and strong. Louisa what you said about MY CHARISMA should be true!

Next piece of great news is that the CLIENT has just signed the contract that would end my 12:30-8:30pm shift (does victory dance)! After so many days and nights on my knees, sometimes getting my hopes up only to be disappointed, but now it’s super confirmed, straight from the horse’s mouth!

Received an email from someone I have always hoped to hear from. I so love you! I would leave it at that.

To my Hana Banana, I’m so proud of you. I mean it takes a lot of thinking and courage to do what you had to do. I hope that you’ll not only be free but happy as well.

Plus tonight Singapore felt the effects of an 8.2 earthquake in Indonesia. I was still at the office listening to the Wreckers – Leave the Pieces when I felt so nauseous. At first I thought maybe as I was sick for the sixth day in the row it was getting to me. Or as my top managers were holding a meeting near me, Kelvin was just jerking his leg violently. But as I stared down my chair, the handles were moving in a circular motion.

Azlina saw my confused look ,she asked me “What?”

“Is the floor shaking?” When I said that she immediately stood up and Tony and Kelvin were like “What?”.

See, I’m very sensitive to seismic activity. We had to go down by the stairs because the lifts were making funny noises. There were people crowded in front of the office building and we waited until like ten more minutes till we went up again.

I just hope that there are not so many casualties and that aide will come soon for the affected regions.

One more news I’m particularly interested in, former Philippine President Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada received a guilty verdict for plunder. I don’t know whether I’m supposed to be happy or not. As far as I know former presidents have been corrupt, only Mr. Estrada was tried and charged (or charged and tried?) by the Sandiganbayan. And what about the accusations against Pres. Arroyo? The Hello Garci tapes? I just hope that this is one step closer for a clean government, that justice for the masses won’t end here. Is it just me or I’m veering back to my activism and opinionated observations?

A lot has happened, and it’s only Wednesday! Tomorrow still holds a promise! Oh yeah, this Monday I typed “Go Ahead Shock Me, Everything Has” as my MSN shoutout, man, those words ring true…

*DISPLACEMENT – also known as the GREAT UPROOTING; period from the time that I set foot on Singapore soil and present time.

Reason Why

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And I found myself in despair again, dipping up and down, in and out. Until it feels like I’m back to where I started. Futile.

The smallest things tick me off. The smallest things scrape my heart. When it starts, it balloons into this force to reckon with and it crashes down on me like this huge wave, leaving me gasping for air.

Yipee. So I manage to get sidetracked once again. Asking God the question, “Is this even worth it?”. How can one be alive and yet dead at the same time?

It’s tough needing people to be strong for you. Because you know you can’t make it on your own. But it’s also true that despite everything on the outside, we are all like wounded soldiers.

I was thinking about how I manage to make progress then fall back, how it’s a cycle that never seems to break. With my eyes I see dark skies and grey mountains, and no matter what I do, I fall short.

“Is this even worth it?”

At my quiet time, I was transparent and revealing as ever. I needed answers, and I needed it now.

With guitar in hand, I was about to play one song that we sing at church, but somehow, my hands were fixed on a C rather on the D, the key that I was going to play the song in.

First came the melody, then the words:

You see me through the bitter tears

You are there when no one’s near

You hear the cry buried in my soul

Keeper of my secrets untold

This is my prayer that you’ll be my heart’s desire

Forever you’ll remain, my heart’s one desire

It’s not about me, though I have fooled myself into believing that it is. It’s about God, and how no matter what the circumstances I find myself in, even if things really turn crappy and negative, my focus is on him.

And as long as he remains the desire of my heart, no mountain, no matter how much the pain stings (which sometimes makes me wish I was dead), no matter what it takes, whatever the price – it’s all worth it.

God says he is constant. His love never fails. Things may change for the better or for worse, or never at all, He is there, always. Whether in the valley or on top of the mountain, whether through the fire or the storm, He is the everliving God. And with this characterstic of God revealed, taking a new meaning in my life, I began to sing:

This is the reason why I stand

Jesus, you’re the reason why I stand

The rock on which I stand

and I won’t be shaken

gimme some sleep

I was supposed to go to sleep at like 10 pm today. And it’s already seven minutes to 11 pm. I am not in a sunny mood, the air is not nippy and yet I’m wearing four layers of clothes under the tropical sun.

My nose is running and my throat is not cooperative.

Plus Joanne just emailed me to confirm my orders for the online shopping that I have gotten myself into (yes, this is my first time).

Added to that was that Daven waited for me to end work so I can help him choose a card for his girlfriend. We went to Century Square to make the purchase. And oh, it’s their 3rd year anniversary I think. So that errand cost me another 10 minutes of precious time, but hey, the guy waited for me and I’m always ready to act as “cupid”.

They needed my phone for testing, so I switched to Graphite then to Zinc. Not too sure if I’m gonna go to work or not as my throat’s bugging me big time.

So here I am yawning, but at least this is my first random post in many months.

 Ciao people!

I’m gonna get myself some shut-eye.
