There is something about the open road, good friends, music blaring from the speakers, wind on your face, and petrol station toilets that evoke a sense of adventure and fun!
I remember fourteen hours on the road, bodies piled on top of each other in very weird positions and food dusted with dirt and tiny insects. It was the most uncomfortable feeling in my life but it was such fun because aside from enjoying the view and the occasional stench from the pig farms along the way, I have the most important people in my life.
Ohh…I really want to go on a roadtrip, like Route 66 in magnitude (hmm, or length), but I want it back in Pinas because the people are more hospitable and at least I have the language barrier down to pat. Coconut trees lining the road, kids playing tag, mongrels running around and the toothless grin that you can see from most uncles.
I think it’s an inherent part of people to be transient and yet wanting stability at the same time. Ok, I’ll stop with that direction of profound thought.
I want to hit the road!
